Dr David Hamilton is a leading edge scientist and bestselling author celebrated for his considerable positive contribution to the fields of mind-body health, wellbeing, mindfulness and happiness.
Awarded a first class honours degree in chemistry, specialising in biological and medicinal chemistry, and completing a PhD, David worked for four years in the pharmaceutical industry developing drugs for cardiovascular disease and cancer. During this time he also served as an athletics coach and manager of one of the UK’s largest athletics clubs, leading them to three successive UK finals. Upon leaving the pharmaceutical industry, he co-founded the international relief charity Spirit Aid Foundation and served as a director for two years. While writing his first book he taught chemistry, ecology and maths at James Watt College of Further and Higher Education and tutored chemistry at Glasgow University.
It was while working in drug development in the pharmaceutical industry, that David began studying mind body interactions, becoming fascinated by the placebo effect and how people improve through believing they are receiving a drug. Inspired to write and speak about the mind, our abilities, and to help people believe in themselves, he decided to leave the pharmaceutical industry after four years. Having studied the scientific benefits of kindness, he also felt compelled to spread the idea that a small group of people with compassion and kindness in their hearts can change the world.
The bestselling author of seven books published by Hay House, David offers talks and workshops that use science to inspire, fusing science, the mind, and wisdom from the contemplative traditions. His work has been featured in numerous publications, including ELLE, RED Magazine, Psychologies, YOU Magazine, Good Housekeeping (both UK & US), and several newspapers.
