Please put forward your picks for your Green Heroes of 2021!”

Jarvis Smith, PEA Founder

Jarvis Smith – who was inspired to leave a successful career in advertising to help make the world a greener place after spending three weeks on a landfill site for Channel 4’s Dumped programme – is also appealing to the government, citizens and brands of Britain to rally together to tackle the escalating climate emergency by embedding Nature restoration into all their audited transactions. In the wake of the UN Decade on EcoSystem Restoration’s (2021-2030) clarion call for the protection and revival of our planet’s ecosystems, he urges everyone to join the ‘Age of Restoration’.

“With the world in serious jeopardy as the climate crisis warms up the planet, we have to act now, all of us,”says Smith, “the government, brands, organisations and every individual. We have to make giving back to Nature as normal as taking from Nature has become, and build a fast track to net zero without reinventing the wheel. To do this, we invite everyone to become conscious consumers and buy from ethical brands committed to giving back to Nature and which embed restoration into all their transactions. In 2019, there were 40 billion UK payments – if a tree were planted for every one of those transactions, we’d offset the entire human population’s carbon footprint for one year, amounting to 40 billion tonnes.”

Katie Hill, Chairperson for the all-female Judging panel for the P.E.A Awards and Co-founder of My Green Pod, adds: “With COP26 Glasgow fast approaching in November, we are now at the most important time in humanity’s history. The climate crisis is a global issue that will only be solved if every single one of us mucks in, so we urge you to join the Age of Restoration by giving back to Nature with all your audited transactions.

Katie Hill

“At My Green Pod, we’ve partnered with reforestation charity TreeSisters to plant a tree with every transaction on our ethical online shop. Other brands embedding restoration include natural beauty company, Weleda, who have pledged to plant one million trees, and Yeo Valley who are committed to organic and regenerative farming. We encourage everyone to shop with discernment, making the shift from consumers to restorers – it’s the simplest, quickest way we can all help reverse climate change. And be sure to honour anyone you know already leading the way to restore our world by nominating them for a P.E.A Award by 7 September!”

Unlike most companies, the founders meet and connect personally with the owners of the companies they work with. They do this because they believe that authentically ethical products and services can only be produced and supplied with conscious, heartfelt intent. With your support, these companies could change the face of business and the health of our environment – and you could save some cash and discover some extremely effective ethical products along the way! Every time you buy from My Green Pod’s marketplace, they will plant a tree in the tropics (through charity partner TreeSisters) as their way of saying thank you for helping to change the path of the future. Together, lots of small actions make a huge difference. #PutYourMoneyWhereYourHeartIs

Someone once said that the top six inches of soil supports all life on land. That makes Yeo Valley think we really need to look after it.
