In June 2015, I joined the makers of the celebrated Dalai Lama film, Road to Peace, walking 200 miles from London to Glastonbury to celebrate the Dalai Lama’s 80th birthday and his message of Peace. Setting off without any money to undertake the epic two week walk in the spirit of a traditional Buddhist pilgrimage, we put our faith in the kindness of strangers to help us survive…but is this kind of journey still possible in material modern Britain?
